SubmissionsThe Groke publishes annually. We will respond to submissions within 3 weeks. Because of the amount of submissions we recieve, we are not able to respond to all submissions. If you do not hear back from us after 3 weeks, we have decided to not move forward with your submission.

Read Before SubmittingRequirements are listed for each type of submission. If these requirements are not met, the submission will not be reviewed.
Items that are submitted, such as the Author’s/Artist’s bio and the work’s title are final upon submission. We will not change these nor will we accept requests to.
Formatting, such as text font and size will be altered to fit the issue. Attributes, such as bold-faced, italicization, and hyphens will not be touched.
The Magazine’s inbox is only monitored during open submissions. If you are needing to contact anyone from The Groke afterwards, please reach out to Marble via Substack.
We’ve been experiencing a glitch in our inbox where a blank email will immediately respond back to any messages sent to our inbox. We have contacted Squarespace about this issue and are aware how confusing this makes correspondence. Please know we are working to fix this :)
Prose Submissions:
Short-Fiction/Flash-Fiction: 750-1500 words in length. (We are flexible with length, as long as the proposed story doesn’t massively exceed/fall beneath the preferred word counts.)
Poetry: No more than 5 pages in length. We favor speculative poetry and anything otherworldly.
*Simultaneous submissions and submissions of works that have appeared elsewhere are allowed. Please just note this in the body of your submission email.
Prose submissions should be included in the body of the email. As a matter of policy, we do not open unsolicited attachments. Please send all submissions to us via email or form. Include a cover letter with a bio of about 50 words.

Art Submissions:
Currently, we’re looking for original artwork or photography to feature on future magazine covers and within pages. Portrait-orientated images — please. Higher res files preferred for publication.*
Email us up to 3 images (.png or .jpg) inserted into one word-compatible document with a cover letter listing the artworks/photos with your name, material used/inspiration behind the piece, email, and a bio of about 50 words.
*Lower quality images may be rejected for publication. AI images will always be rejected.
