Love is awful. In Seattle, childhood best friends, Sebby and Briss, stumble into bed together at a party with this in mind. It’s an old trick they’ve returned to since their breakup as teens, just another vice that dulls the ache of Sebby’s absent parents and Briss’ violent older sibling. 

Their complex, sometimes subconscious, entanglement rules their lives. Plagued by drugs, eating disorders, and an overall fear of commitment (often further fed by their involvement with one another) healthy mindsets feel just out of reach. At sixteen, something happened to Briss. It’s a secret she’s kept since their breakup. Telling him could put an end to their ten-year cycle of pain, but Briss isn’t sure a life exists without it.
