I wanted a space where artists could rely on one another. In an ever-changing world, that seemed so vital to me. I wanted community, understanding — solidarity.

The word “Groke” was in an article I’d read years ago about forgotten words. It means, “to look at somebody while they're eating in the hope that they'll give you some of their food”. I couldn’t think of a better summarization of humans after that. Sure, one can impose a sort of greed within this definition, but I see it more as this invisible connection we all secretly yearn for.
